Setup checklist (onboarding)
The six-step JoinCPR onboarding checklist, from your subdomain and payment processor to your first class, what counts as done, and Finish setup and Skip.
Updated · JoinCPR help center
After you create an account you land on the Onboarding page. It also appears in the sidebar under Account → Onboarding until you finish or skip it, and every login returns you there until then.
The checklist
The card is titled "Get started with JoinCPR" and shows "X of 6 complete" with a progress bar. Each step has a Start button that opens the right page.
| # | Step | Counts as done when | Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Set up your subdomain | Your account has a subdomain. This is generated from your company name at sign-up, so it is already ticked. Change it under Domains if you like. | Yes |
| 2 | Connect a payment processor | Stripe or Square is connected (test or live). See Connecting Stripe or Square. | Yes |
| 3 | Create your first location | At least one location exists. | Yes |
| 4 | Create your first course | At least one course exists. | Yes |
| 5 | Schedule your first class | At least one class exists. A draft counts. See Creating classes. | Yes |
| 6 | Invite a staff member or instructor (optional) | Any team member whose role is not Admin has been added. A second admin does not count. See Staff & Instructors. | No |
Finishing
- When the five required steps are complete a Finish setup button appears in the card header. Clicking it marks onboarding complete and takes you to the dashboard.
- Skip for now (below the card) marks onboarding complete immediately, whether or not the steps are done.
Important
There is no way to reopen onboarding once it is finished or skipped. The sidebar item disappears and the page redirects to the dashboard. That is fine: every step is an ordinary page you can reach from the sidebar at any time.
Before you invite students
The checklist gets you to a working schedule. A few settings are worth reviewing before the first real registration:
- Timezone in Settings → General. Class times are entered and displayed in this zone. See Timezones.
- Company email and phone in Settings → General. Both are printed on receipts and shown to students if your registration pages ever close.
- Reply-To Email in Settings → Notifications, so students' replies to your emails reach your inbox. See Notification settings.
- Branding (logo, colours, favicon). See Branding.
- Student Portal options such as guest checkout, the registration cut-off and the waitlist. See Student Portal settings.
- Email templates. The defaults work out of the box, but you may want to add your own wording. See Email templates.
- Search engines. Give your first location a city and state, write course descriptions, then verify the portal in Google Search Console and submit the sitemap. See Getting found on Google.
Reminder emails from JoinCPR
If your account stays unfinished, you may get a one-off email from JoinCPR titled "Finish setting up your JoinCPR account" listing the steps that are left.
