Editing, cancelling and deleting classes
Edit a class, cancel it with an email to every registered student, or delete it: what each action changes, why date changes belong in Reschedule, and refunds.

Editing a class
Open the class and click Edit Class (or Edit in the list menu). The form is the same as creating a class, pre-filled, without the recurring section.
What saving does:
- Updates every field and rebuilds the session days.
- Instructors added get a calendar event, instructors removed have theirs deleted, and remaining instructors' events are updated.
- Existing registrations are untouched: changing the price or capacity does not alter what students already paid or hold. Raising the capacity of a class with a waitlist offers the new seats to the people in line.
Important
Editing dates here does not notify anyone. No email goes out, the class is not flagged as rescheduled, and the automatic class reminder is not reset. If students are already registered, use Reschedule on the class page instead. See Rescheduling a class.Nothing blocks editing while registrations exist, so double-check dates before saving.

Cancelling a class
On the class page click Cancel Class. The window explains: "The class will be unpublished, every active registration will be cancelled, and students can be notified by email. Refunds are not automatic; issue them from the roster afterwards."
- Reason (optional): up to 255 characters, kept on the class record.
- Email every registered student: on by default. Sends the Registration Cancelled email to every Pending and Confirmed student who has an email address.
- Click Cancel Class to confirm, or Keep Class.
Effects:
- The class is unpublished and shows a red Cancelled badge in the list. A red banner on the class page shows the date and reason.
- Every Pending and Confirmed registration becomes Cancelled. Completed and No show registrations are left as they are.
- The class's waitlist is closed; with notifications on, the people on it receive the Registration Cancelled email too.
- Cancel Class, Reschedule and Edit Class disappear from the page. There is no undo.
- The message tells you how many paid registrations still need refunds.
Warning
Cancelling never refunds anyone. Go through the roster and use Issue Refund (or Mark as Refunded for cash payments) for each paid student. See Refunds.
Note
The reason you type is stored with the class but the default Registration Cancelled email does not include it. If you want students to see a reason, put it in the email template under Email templates, or contact them separately.
Instructors' calendar events are not removed by cancelling. They are removed by deleting the class.
Deleting a class
Delete from the list menu or the danger zone on the edit page ("Delete class — Permanently remove this class and all associated data.").
Rules:
- Delete is refused while the class has any Pending or Confirmed registration: "still has N active registrations. Cancel the class first so students are notified."
- Otherwise the class is soft-deleted, removed from every assigned instructor's synced calendar, and disappears from all lists. Nobody is emailed.
- Completed, No show and Cancelled registrations attached to it are hidden along with the class. Certificates issued from it remain on the student's record.
Tip
Prefer Cancel Class for anything students have interacted with. It keeps the history visible and tells students what happened. Reserve Delete for mistakes such as a class created on the wrong date before anyone registered.
Unpublishing without cancelling
Edit the class and turn Published off. The class becomes a Draft: hidden from the portal and embeds, but registrations, reminders and the roster keep working. Useful when you want to stop new sign-ups without cancelling.
