Calendar sync (Google, Outlook, iCal)
Connecting your own Google or Outlook calendar, the iCal feed for Apple Calendar and other apps, what syncs and when, and the sync preference.
Updated · JoinCPR help center
Each team member can put their classes on their own calendar. Calendar connections are personal: your Google or Outlook account, your own iCal link. Nothing here is shared with the rest of the team.
Where: Settings → Integrations (all roles) or, for instructors, Teaching → Calendar Sync.
Google Calendar
- Click Connect Google Calendar and approve access.
- Once connected, choose the Calendar to write to (only calendars you own are listed) and a Sync preference.
- Disconnect removes JoinCPR's access. Events already created stay in Google.
Outlook Calendar
Connect Outlook Calendar, approve with Microsoft, and events go to your default calendar. Disconnect works as above.
iCal feed
For Apple Calendar, Outlook subscriptions or any app that supports iCal:
- Click Enable iCal Feed. A Feed URL appears; copy it.
- In your calendar app choose "subscribe to calendar" (or similar) and paste the URL.
- Regenerate URL invalidates the old link; Disable turns the feed off.
The feed lists published classes from the last three months onward, one event per day for multi-day classes. Your calendar app decides how often it refreshes, often every few hours.
Note
The feed URL works without a login. Treat it like a password: anyone with the link can see the class schedule.
Sync preference
- Only classes I'm assigned to (default)
- All published classes: for the iCal feed, includes the whole business schedule. For Google and Outlook it makes no difference; those only ever receive classes you are assigned to.
What syncs to Google and Outlook, and when
| Event | Calendar result |
|---|---|
| You are assigned to a class (created, edited or duplicated) | Event created: "{Class} — {Company}", with location address, instructors and registered count. For an online class the meeting link is the event location (Google shows it as a join button) and is repeated in the description. |
| Class rescheduled or edited with you still assigned | Event updated |
| You are removed from the class | Event deleted |
| Class deleted | Event deleted |
| Class cancelled | Nothing; the event stays on your calendar |
Sync is one-way: changes you make in Google or Outlook are not read back. Events appear within a minute or so of the action.
Important
Connecting a calendar does not back-fill classes you were assigned to earlier. Only assignments and reschedules made after connecting appear. Use the iCal feed if you need the full existing schedule right away.
